About

About Elizabeth Arris, Owner of Portland Acupuncture

I work with patients to develop plans for lifestyle modifications that are achievable and sustainable, while providing compassionate and holistic care.  Prior to my clinical experience, I worked as an herbal pharmacist in a TCM pharmacy, and my herbal skills are highly recommended by my peers.

I am a Maine native, but earned my Master's degree from AOMA Graduate School in Integrative Medicine in Austin, TX and am licensed to practice acupuncture and Chinese herbology in both Texas and Maine. During my graduate education, I worked as the research coordinator for AOMA's research department. I was honored wtih two superlative awards: AOMA President's Award for academic excellence and the Cal Key Wilson Community Leadership Award.  I received my BA in Biological Sciences from Smith College in Northampton, MA, and I am currently completing my doctorate at AOMA, focusing on the role of acupuncture in treating autoimmune diseases and chronic pain.

Outside of the clinic, I am a dance instructor with ten years’ experience teaching all ages, and a qigong instructor with five years’ experience. It is my wholehearted belief that movement is a critical component of self-expression, spiritual and physical growth, and personal health. For more information about the qigong form I practice and my teacher, Master Li Junfeng, please visit: shengzhen.org
